Glasallt Fawr Open Day 2008

On 3rd May 2008 Glasallt Fawr hosted its first open day.
It was a very enjoyable occasion and many local people visited who had not been here before.
It was a good chance to see Glasallt Fawr and enjoy our wonderful views.

Many people donated gifts and prizes and items to sell and we are very grateful for their generosity.
Parents arrived from far and wide ready to work or spend their money.
Many of the items for sale had been made by our residents in their workshops. We had made mats
in the weavery, soaps, cards, candles and mosaic mirrors and these all proved to be very popular
with our visitors.
In the days before the sale we had been busy baking cakes for the teas and coffees and also potting
up plants to sell. It was a busy time for everyone but well worth all the effort.

One of the highlights of the day was the sealed bid auction for a guided tour for two people,
to the gardens at Highgrove. This had been donated by Prince Charles who recently bought a property
quite close to Glasallt Fawr. We were very grateful to Prince Charles for this exciting donation.
It attracted many bids and the winning bid was made by Lord and Lady Kilmaine.
They are looking forward to visiting Highgrove later in the summer.

We plan to make the Open Day an annual event as it was such a success and enjoyed by everyone.
